After Dark Guide
When to Put Up Christmas Lights in Florida (and When to Book)
In Tampa Bay the question is less about weather and more about the calendar. Here is the right window to install, and the earlier window to book, before installers fill up.
Florida takes the weather part of this question off the table. There is no frozen ground, no snow, no waiting for a warm day to get on the roof. So the real question is not when it is safe to install, it is when your lights should go up to look right, and when you need to book so an installer is still available. Those are two different dates, and the second one sneaks up on people.
When the lights should go up
The common window in Tampa Bay is the two weeks around Thanksgiving. A lot of homeowners want the display lit for the long Thanksgiving weekend, so installs cluster in early-to-mid November. Some go up right after Halloween to stretch the season, and that is fine. There is no wrong answer here, only your preference. Because we hand-install premium C9 bulbs and run them through the season, the display stays up and lit until we take it down in January. You can see the full program on our Holiday Lighting page.
When you actually need to book
Here is the date that matters, and it is earlier than most people expect. We take a limited number of holiday installs each season, and returning customers get first pick of the calendar, so the good install windows fill well before Thanksgiving. If you wait until you see your neighbors’ lights go up to call, the best dates are often already gone.
The honest advice: reach out in late summer or early fall, before the rush. Booking early does not mean your lights go up early, it means you lock the install date you want. Across Trinity, Odessa, Wesley Chapel, and the rest of the bay, the calendar is the whole game with seasonal lighting. If you want to know what it runs before you commit, the christmas light installation cost guide lays out how pricing works, and the how to hire a christmas light installer guide covers what to look for.
The way to never think about timing again
There is one option that deletes this whole question. A permanent architectural system installs once, tucks along your soffit out of sight, and switches to red and green from an app whenever you want, no seasonal booking, no calendar, no takedown. You schedule a single install and you are done for good. For homeowners tired of racing the calendar every fall, it is worth a look, and the permanent vs. temporary christmas lights guide compares the two head to head.

Common questions
Is it too early to book in the summer? No, and it is the smart move. Booking in summer or early fall does not put your lights up early, it just locks in the install date you want before the calendar fills. Returning customers reserve early for exactly this reason.
How late can I call and still get lights up for the holidays? Sometimes we can fit a late booking in, but the good windows go first and there are no guarantees close to the holidays. The later you call, the fewer dates are left, so earlier is always safer.
Do you take the lights down too, or is that on me? We take them down and store them in January as part of the seasonal program. You never touch a ladder, at either end of the season.
