Halloween Lights for Your Home

Orange and purple along your roofline, set from your phone. Up for October, back to warm white on November 1, and nothing to store.

Orange and purple, without the bins

Most Halloween lights come in a box. Orange strands, a purple spotlight or two, and an afternoon on a ladder.

Then they come down in November and go into a bin in the garage, next to the Christmas bins, until next year.

Permanent lights skip all of that. They are installed once along your rooflines. For October, you set orange and purple on your phone. On November 1, the house goes back to a soft warm white. Nothing to hang and nothing to store.

Looks that work for Halloween

  • All orange. One deep orange on every roofline. The simplest look, and the one people notice from down the street.
  • Orange and purple by zone. Purple on the upper roofline, orange below. The system runs in zones, so each part of the house can be its own color.
  • One deep red. Darker and moodier than orange. Good for a house that wants spooky over cute.
  • Purple with warm white. Purple up high, warm white at the entry so trick-or-treaters can see the steps.

How many zones your home has depends on its layout, and we plan that with you before the install.

Shadows in the yard

Color on the house is half the look. The other half is the yard. Our landscape lighting is warm white, and placed low at the base of an oak or a palm, it throws long shadows up the trunk and into the branches. Light grazing across a stucco wall adds texture the same way.

A little goes a long way. The goal is a house that looks a bit haunted, not a yard lit like a parking lot.

On at dusk, all month

The app has scheduling. Set orange and purple to come on at dusk for all of October, or just the week before Halloween, and you do not have to think about it again. On November 1, it goes back to warm white on its own.

These are the same lights you use all year. Red and green for Christmas, blue and white for Hanukkah, red, white and blue for the Fourth, and your team colors on game day. Our holiday color calendar shows a full year of looks, and the permanent architectural lighting page covers how the install works. By day, the track is color-matched to your trim, so it is very hard to spot.

Questions about Halloween lights

Can I switch my house to orange just for Halloween?

Yes, with a permanent system. Color runs from an app on your phone, so going from warm white to a deep orange is a few taps, and switching back is just as fast.

Can I set it for all of October?

Yes. The app has scheduling. Set orange and purple to come on at dusk for the whole month or just the last week, then go back to warm white on its own on November 1.

Does colored house lighting look tacky?

It does not have to. One strong color on the house, or two colors split by zone, looks planned. Tacky usually comes from clutter, not from color used well.

Can my landscape lights turn orange too?

No. Our landscape lighting is warm white. On Halloween that works in your favor: warm light low on a tree trunk throws long shadows up into the branches.

Can your Christmas lights do orange?

No. Our traditional C9 lights are a Christmas season program in warm white, cool white or multicolor: we put them up, take them down in January, and store them. Orange in October is only the permanent system, which stays up all year.
